Foundry में इस्तेमाल होने वाले Core Sands और उनकी विशेषताएं

Foundry process में cavities बनाने के लिए cores का उपयोग किया जाता है, और इन्हें बनाने के लिए विशेष प्रकार के sand का उपयोग होता है जिसे Core Sand कहा जाता है। Core sand की selection casting की quality और precision को प्रभावित करती है।

Core Sand क्या होता है?

Core sand वो molding sand होता है जिसे core बनाने के लिए specially तैयार किया जाता है। इसमें high strength, collapsibility और gas permeability होनी चाहिए ताकि casting sound और defect-free हो।

Core Sands के मुख्य प्रकार

1. Green Sand Core

Green sand से बना core तुरंत इस्तेमाल किया जा सकता है लेकिन इसकी strength कम होती है। यह छोटे और simple cores के लिए उपयुक्त होता है।

2. Dry Sand Core

Dry sand core में binder मिलाकर mold में भरने के बाद उसे oven में bake किया जाता है। इसकी strength high होती है और यह complex cavities के लिए उपयुक्त है।

3. Oil Sand Core

Oil sand core में linseed oil या अन्य vegetable oils binder के रूप में use होते हैं। इसे high strength और smooth surface finish के लिए prefer किया जाता है।

4. CO₂ Sand Core

इसमें sodium silicate binder का use होता है और CO₂ gas पास करके sand को hard किया जाता है। Fast setting और good strength इसकी विशेषताएं हैं।

5. Resin Sand Core

Resin bonded sand में synthetic resin (जैसे phenolic) binder होता है जो excellent strength, precision और collapsibility प्रदान करता है। High performance casting के लिए इसे use किया जाता है।

Core Sands की विशेषताएं

• High Strength: Core को molten metal के pressure को withstand करना होता है।
• Collapsibility: Solidification के बाद core आसानी से टूट जाए जिससे casting damage न हो।
• Permeability: Gases को बाहर निकलने दे ताकि blowholes न बनें।
• Surface Finish: Core की smoothness final casting की surface quality को तय करती है।
• Refractoriness: High temperature पर core degrade न हो।
