Shearing एक cutting process है जिसमें sheet metal को बिना chip removal के mechanically cut किया जाता है। इसमें निम्न operations शामिल होते हैं:

• Blanking: Required shape को sheet से punch किया जाता है।
• Piercing: Hole या कट लगाने की process।
• Trimming: Finished part के आसपास का extra material हटाना।

Drawing में sheet metal को punch और die की मदद से खींचकर cup या box shape दी जाती है। इसे deep drawing भी कहते हैं जब depth diameter से ज्यादा हो।

• Coining: Very high pressure से sharp details बनाना (जैसे coins पर)।
• Embossing: Metal surface पर raised या recessed design बनाना।
• Curling: Sheet edge को curl करना जिससे sharp edge खत्म हो जाए।

Notching: Sheet edge से material remove करना
Lancing: Cut और bend combination जिससे tabs या vents बनें
Perforating: Sheet पर multiple holes बनाना

• Squeezing: High pressure से metal compress करना
