Combustion एक chemical process है जिसमें fuel का oxygen के साथ reaction होता है और heat + by-products (जैसे CO2, H2O) उत्पन्न होते हैं।

Theoretical या Stoichiometric Combustion वह प्रक्रिया है जिसमें fuel को exact required oxygen amount के साथ जलाया जाता है ताकि पूरा combustion हो जाए और कोई भी unburnt fuel या excess oxygen ना बचे।
