Convolution क्या होता है?

Convolution एक mathematical operation है जिसका उपयोग Linear Time-Invariant (LTI) systems के output को calculate करने के लिए किया जाता है।

यह signal और impulse response के बीच interaction को दर्शाता है।

Convolution का Concept

अगर input signal x(t) है और system का impulse response h(t) है, तो output y(t) होगा:

Continuous-Time Convolution:

y(t) = x(t) * h(t) = ∫ x(τ)·h(t–τ) dτ

Discrete-Time Convolution:

y[n] = x[n] * h[n] = Σ x[k]·h[n–k]

यह operation input और system के behavior (impulse response) के बीच combined effect को बताता है।

Graphical Method (Discrete-time)

1. Impulse response h[k] को time-reverse करो → h[–k]
2. Shift करो → h[n–k]
3. Multiply करो: x[k]·h[n–k]
4. Sum करो सभी values को → Σ

मान लीजिए:

• x[n] = {1, 2}
• h[n] = {1, 1}

तो y[n] = x[n] * h[n] = {1, 3, 2}

Convolution की Properties

1. Commutative: x[n] * h[n] = h[n] * x[n]
2. Associative: x[n] * (h[n] * g[n]) = (x[n] * h[n]) * g[n]
3. Distributive: x[n] * (h[n] + g[n]) = x[n] * h[n] + x[n] * g[n]
4. Shift Property: अगर x[n–n₀] है, तो output भी shift होगा

Importance in LTI Systems

• Convolution से हम किसी भी arbitrary input के लिए system का output निकाल सकते हैं
• Impulse response के साथ input का convolution ही final output होता है
• Digital signal processing, control systems, और filter design में उपयोगी
